Who we are

The Countess of Onslow, President

The Alzheimer's Research Trust is governed by a voluntary Board of Trustees, consisting of up to 10 Directors and overseen by our President, the Countess of Onslow. The Chief Executive, Rebecca Wood, reports regularly in writing on income, expenditure and important activities and events.

Our voluntary Scientific Advisory Board, consisting of leading distinguished experts in dementia research, puts forward recommendations to the Trustees on research strategy and grants for funding. The Board also takes advice from our Expert Referee Panel made up of international researchers. Working at the cutting edge of dementia research, our scientific advisors ensure work funded by the Alzheimer's Research Trust is cost-effective and offers the best hope of making progress towards a cure, treatment or prevention.

The charity currently employs sixteen staff (fourteen full-time equivalent) who help to ensure the efficient and effective running of the charity: Chief Executive, Director of Marketing & PR (Deputy Chief Executive), Director of Development, Legacy & Finance Officer, Research Grants Officer, Science Communications Officer, Senior Press & Communications Officer, Marketing & PR Officer, Development Officer, Press and Public Affairs Officer, Supporter Care Officer and Administrative Officers. Staff are responsible for raising, allocating and administering funds as agreed by the Trustees.
