    Older woman Middle-aged people living alone have twice the risk of developing dementia and Alzheimer’s disease in later life compared with married or cohabiting people, while being widowed or divorced in mid-life carries three times the risk.

    Rebecca Wood The UK’s leading dementia charities today (30 June) united with eminent scientists to urge the government to commit to a national dementia research strategy and triple annual investment in research to £96 million within five years.
